How to fix a damaged hat

HOW TO RESHAPE A FELT HAT WITH A STEAMER
- Steam the area of your hat that needs to be reshaped
- Use your hands to push out the dents or straighten the brim
- Let the hat cool
Fixing a hats shape with a steamer is the most straightforward way. Steam the hat section by section and knead the areas into shape. Avoid letting the hat get too wet. If tit starts getting wet, let the hat dry out and try again.
NO STEAMER? RESHAPE YOUR HAT IN THE SHOWER
If you don't have access to a steamer, the steam from a hot shower will do the trick. Simply turn on your shower to the hottest setting and shut the door. Hang your hat away from the water’s steam so it doesn't get wet.
Leave your hat in the bathroom for about ten or fifteen minutes to get the hat to soften. Now turn the shower off, remove your hat, and start reshaping it.
If your hat was flattened or crushed, use your hands to put it back in shape, starting with the brim. Work your way around the hat. Once you’re satisfied with how it looks and your hat looks great again, set it on a dry towel and allow it to dry.
HOW TO FIX A SMASHED HAT WITH A BOILING POT
Another method you can use is boiling water. Bring water to a boil in a tea kettle or a pot. When the water boils, a foot from the steam as you drain the water or open the tea kettle and let the steam roll out onto your hat. Take your hat away from the kettle and shape your hat back into place. Be mindful, if the hat becomes damp or moist from the steam, let it dry naturally before beginning the same process again.
